Negative Space is an immersive light and sound artwork that simulates the progressive unfolding of an intangible architectural space through the use of light and fog. This installation is based on patterns derived from the ground-level arrangement of masts aligned at regular intervals. Using lighting devices projecting vertically, Negative Space creates ephemeral and opposing spaces that, by leveraging the principle of negative/positive, appear to continuously construct and deconstruct themselves. This movement is further enhanced by a sound composition evolving in a similar pattern, amplifying the immersive effect.

The installation invites spectators to explore fleeting and ever-changing spaces, disrupting their usual spatial references and questioning their perception of reality.

The artwork draws inspiration from Solid Light Works by Anthony McCall, which sculpts luminous volumes within fog. Through this reference, it delves into the limits of perception and the ways in which spaces are mentally constructed from visual and auditory stimuli.

Negative Space est une œuvre immersive lumineuse et sonore qui simule le déploiement progressif d’un espace architectural intangible à travers l’utilisation de la lumière et du brouillard. Cette installation repose sur des motifs imaginés à partir de la disposition au sol de mâts alignés à intervalles réguliers. À l’aide de dispositifs lumineux projetant verticalement, Negative Space crée des espaces éphémères et opposés qui, en exploitant le principe du négatif/positif, semblent se construire et se déconstruire en permanence. Ce mouvement est renforcé par une composition sonore évoluant selon un schéma similaire, amplifiant l’effet immersif.

L’installation invite les spectateurs à explorer des espaces fugaces et en constante transformation, perturbant leurs repères spatiaux habituels et questionnant leur perception de la réalité.

L’œuvre s’inspire notamment de Solid Light Works d’Anthony McCall, qui sculpte des volumes lumineux dans le brouillard. À travers cette référence, elle explore les limites de la perception et la manière dont les espaces sont mentalement construits à partir de stimuli visuels et sonores.
