At night, on a motorway rest area, when I was a child, I first sensed, almost imperceptibly, a distant sound wave emerging, accompanied by beams of light sculpting the horizon through the fog. The sound wave seemed to distort, and its volume gradually increased, while the lights projected countless shadows stretching across the tarmac through guardrails, signs, and trees. Then, I glimpsed the fleeting image of a vehicle, carrying all traces of sound and light into nothingness.

Avancée Immobile is inspired by a personal experience and seeks to transcribe this childhood memory through a visual and auditory device. The work freezes these fleeting moments and traps them in a sensory atmosphere, confronting the notions of movement and stillness, the passage of time, and the permanence of memories.

Presented in a dark environment, enveloped in artificial fog, the installation Avancée Immobile is composed of suspended frames integrating a lighting system, arranged one behind the other. The light unfolds in the form of two independent waves crossing the space in both directions, projecting the shadows of the frames and spectators. This light movement constantly redefines the perception of the environment for spectators, who move around the work, accessing new visual and sensory perspectives according to their position.

A sound design accompanies this experience, inspired by the sound of a moving car relative to a stationary observer, where sound waves undergo the Doppler effect. The sound moves through the space in synchronization with the light, altering its tone according to the speed of approach or departure, offering a fluid sensory experience. Composed of multiple speakers, the sound system unfolds through the space, immersing the spectator in a dialogue where light and sound intertwine.

The overall experience merges visual and auditory elements, inviting the spectator to lose themselves in a sensory game where the perception of reality is constantly transformed by the movement of light and sound.

Avancée Immobile raises complex artistic issues, questioning the nature of memory and its visual expression. The attempt to transcribe a distant emotional experience raises the question of how to represent the intangible: how to capture the essence of a past emotion through shapes and light?

The work also explores the power of art to transcend time, creating a dialogue between the spectator and a personal memory that transcends the present moment. By highlighting the tension between movement and stillness, Avancée Immobile offers a reflection on the persistence of memories, on how the past continues to resonate within our present existence.

De nuit, sur une aire d’autoroute, lorsque j’étais enfant, j'ai d'abord perçu de manière presque imperceptible une onde sonore lointaine émerger, accompagnée de faisceaux de lumière sculptant l'horizon à travers le brouillard. L’onde sonore semblait se déformer et son volume sonore augmentait progressivement, tandis que les lumières projetaient d'innombrables ombres s'étirant sur le sol goudronné à travers les glissières de sécurité, les panneaux et les arbres. Ensuite j'ai aperçu l’image fugitive d'un véhicule, emportant toute trace sonore et lumineuse dans le néant.

Avancée Immobile s'inspire d'une expérience personnelle et cherche à transcrire ce souvenir d'enfance à travers un dispositif visuel et sonore. L’œuvre fige ces instants fugaces et les emprisonne dans une atmosphère sensorielle, où s'affrontent les notions d'avancée et d'immobilité, de passage du temps et de permanence des souvenirs.

Présentée dans un environnement obscur, enveloppée d'un brouillard artificiel, l'installation Avancée Immobile se compose de cadres suspendus intégrant un dispositif lumineux, disposés les uns derrière les autres. La lumière se déploie sous la forme de deux ondes indépendantes traversant l'espace dans les deux sens, projetant les ombres des cadres et des spectateurs. Ce mouvement lumineux redéfinit constamment la perception de l’environnement des spectateurs, qui se déplacent autour de l'œuvre et accèdent ainsi à de nouvelles perspectives visuelles et sensorielles selon leur position.

Un design sonore accompagne cette expérience, inspiré par le son d'une voiture en mouvement par rapport à un observateur immobile, où les ondes sonores subissent l'effet Doppler. Le son se déplace dans l'espace en synchronisation avec la lumière, modifiant sa tonalité selon la vitesse d'approche ou d'éloignement, offrant ainsi une expérience sensorielle fluide. Composé de multiples enceintes, le dispositif sonore se déploie à travers l’espace, plongeant le spectateur dans un dialogue où lumière et son s’entrelacent.

L'ensemble fusionne l'expérience visuelle et sonore, invitant le spectateur à se perdre dans un jeu sensoriel où la perception de la réalité se transforme sans cesse au rythme des déplacements lumineux et sonores.

Avancée Immobile soulève des enjeux artistiques complexes, interrogeant la nature de la mémoire et de son expression visuelle. La tentative de retranscrire une expérience émotionnelle lointaine soulève la question de la représentation de l'intangible : comment saisir l’essence d’une émotion passée au travers de formes et de lumières ?

L'œuvre explore également le pouvoir de l'art à transcender le temps et à créer un dialogue entre le spectateur et une mémoire personnelle, qui dépasse les frontières du moment présent. En mettant en lumière la tension entre mouvement et immobilité, Avancée Immobile offre une réflexion sur la persistance des souvenirs, sur la manière dont le passé continue de vibrer au sein de notre existence présente..
